My elderly cat, who lived with me for 18 years through good times and bad, stood his ground against a full-grown Florida panther who was looking for a free meal of the baby chickens.
Attitude Cat positioned himself unmoving between the big cat (well, medium-sized; Florida panthers are only about the size of a Lab Retriever) and the chicken pen while the chicks darted for the door. By the time I got the BB gun cocked and aimed, the cougar was gone back over the fence.
All companions are special, but some are more special than others.
